Business Development - Imaging Specialists, Inc. finds success
with help of BDC In August of 2007, tenants Imaging Specialists, Inc.
graduated the Blue Ridge Business Development Center program and
moved to a retail front location in Sparta. Owners, Jeff and Sharon Halsey and daughter,
Claire, originally came to the BDC in July of 2004, when they
attended a REAL (Rural Entrepreneur through Action Learning) class
given by Wilkes Community College and the BDC. “We had a family prepress business that, due to computerization
of the printing industry, was obsolete. We needed a new product or
service and new skills to generate it,” said Jeff. “The BDC gave us
affordable office space and training that allowed us to rebuild our
business. "We got good exposure at the BDC. We were able to network with
other businesses and learn about available small business resources.
The REAL program helped us immensely by giving us real-world tools
to develop an idea and test its viability before we actually
invested time or money. "It gives you the ability to confidently build a business plan
and if an idea doesn’t work out on paper, better to find out in the
planning stage than in implementation. "We appreciate the help the BDC Board and staff has given us. The
Blue Ridge Business Development Center is a great resource for anyone with an
idea for a business." |
